On May 18, 2013, Strategic Partners and Member Churches gathered at Southern Baptist Church for the “Flavor of CEG.”
This free event was well-attended by the surrounding community. Many came to interact and discuss services available from our Member Churches and Strategic Partners.
Door prizes and good food, catered by two of our Strategic Partners, capped off the afternoon event.

Cincinnati, OH – The Theme: Celebrate, Collaborate and Cultivate was in full force at the 2013 Collective Empowerment Group Celebrate Business Awards banquet held Friday, April 12, 2013 at the Sharonville Convention Center. Honorary Chairs for the evening were Bishop Bobby Hilton of Word of Deliverance Ministries and Dr. Melvin Gravely, II from TriVersity Construction and the Institute for Entrepreneurial Thinking.
The evening began with a Duke Ellington medley from Mr. Frank Payne, former pianist with the Duke Ellington Orchestra, followed by remarks from Rev. Eugene Ellington, President of CEG, during which he shared the mission and vision of the Collective Empowerment Group. He was pleased to announce more than $300,000 in sales between the CEG nineteen (19) member churches and the forty-two (42) Strategic Partners, which are local businesses who are members of the collective for the year 2012. “This is evidence of our supporting our own,” says Ellington "which is critical to the sustainability and economic growth of our businesses and the community.”

More than three hundred and fifty (350) attendees spent the evening celebrating this year’s winners in the following categories:
Finalists for the awards included Anthony and Lori Watson – Noah’s Ark Child Development Center (Up and Coming Business) and James Engelman – EprintWorksPlus, Dr. Stephanie Owens – Owens Chiropractic and Rehabilitation Center, and Calvin Lanier – Cool Times Heating and Air (Business of the Year – 1- 10 Employees).
As part of the celebration, CEG Board of Directors presented the 2013 Ambassador Awards to individuals throughout the community who have been pioneers in their fields and have made outstanding contribution to the community they serve. They have shown commitment and leadership toward community development and economic empowerment. This year’s honorees are:
Other evening highlights included presentations by the Strategic Partners to the top three churches whose congregations had spent the most with “vetted” businesses. These churches were Mountaintop Power Center (3rd), First Baptist Church of Kennedy Heights (2nd) and Southern Baptist Church (1st).
Special Guest Entertainer, Troy Bell of Louisville, Kentucky whose two solos, the aria “Nessun Dorma” by Puccini and gospel favorite, “My Soul’s Been Anchored” were met with standing ovations from the capacity crowd. The evening ended with Aretha Chapman’s Motown Revue and music by Edwin Butler and 2nd Wind.
The Collective Empowerment Group is a non-profit, faith based, business and consumer advocate organization founded in 2008 to foster economic empowerment and community development. In this present economy, the CEG recognizes the importance of and the need to change, improve, and ultimately transform people’s lives.
